Some background here. Addison Wiggins publishes The Daily Reckoning (available for subscription through Agora Financial, LLC). Today’s primary subject was “Making the Empire Pay.” The empire, in this case, is the US government. The folks at Agora Financial appear to consider themselves Anarcho-Capitalists, people who mainly want to be left alone to pursue life, liberty, and happiness (i.e. property) with no interference from government at all. Right now, Addison and Byron King (writer of one of Agora’s newsletters) are convinced that Congress, under the Republicans, will increase military spending, which will provide opportunities for the “smart” people who have subscribed to their newsletters to make money by buying stock in the companies likely to be the recipients of government spending–even though they resent the fact that government has grown so large as to put all of us taxpayers (and our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren) in debt essentially forever. I don’t blame them for their attitude or their resentment, and I present my reply for your consideration.
“Cheers”? When all the news you present seems to say “we’re all gonna die!”?
It seems the only good news you see is that we can rip off those who rip us off. Certainly Bill Bonner seems to have spent a lifetime becoming one of the wealthiest men in the world by following that path. Not that he’s the only person who has done so, and not that I have any business telling him (much less you or any of your writers) that he shouldn’t do so. He–and you all–are each whom you are supposed to be, doing what you are supposed to do.
I’m just letting you know it seems ironic for you to say “Cheers!” then try to scare the dickens out of your readers. But then, I’m an Angel-driven Monkey dominant working to become a Triune Integrated. The way you write suggests you’re about halfway between being a Lizard driven Monkey dominant and a Monkey driven Lizard dominant, and your worldview is really quite negative. It’s not clear yet whether you (and Bill Bonner) truly accept reality and your place in it. The way you put down everyone else (even, by implication, those not “smart” enough to subscribe to your worldview) suggests you don’t.
I’m sure I’m not making sense, but if you dare to check out my website Living the Delphian Way via the link below, you’ll find a series of blog entries that explain my Lizard, Monkey, Angel theory of human nature. Perhaps if enough people learned and came to accept whom they are, we might actually grow up and help each other learn how to turn our dreams into a more positive reality than the one we’re all dealing with now.
Ad Astra per Levitas Nostra!
P.S. Check out my first link below if you’d like my take on life and how we can understand ourselves and everyone around us better. (This blog.)
P.P.S. If you’d like to check out my novels, just click on the second link. (My Amazon Author site).
P.P.P.S. You may also find the proposed Constitution of the Union of Philadelphia an interesting idea for how to “fix” the problems of the world. I’ve written a novel called “The Turning Point” about what would have to happen in order for this idea to be implemented, but I have no current plans to publish it given that it is not something the powers-that-be would appreciate. If you are interested, let me know and I’ll send you a copy. In the meantime, you may want to read “The Vacation,” which is the prequel, the better to understand where I am coming from. It’s available through my Amazon Author site.
